Q.1 What is the work you are responsible for and what do you find rewarding about it?

Finding the right solution for each unique challenge is truly satisfying.

In my previous projects, I mainly worked in physical design, using tools such as Innovus, ICC2, and PrimeTime to perform chip floor planning, placement and routing, timing verification, and ECO implementation. Currently, I am responsible for custom layout work, including device matching, block floor planning, routing, and verification. Using Cadence Virtuoso and various verification tools, I am involved in developing 22nm ULP technology. Through physical design, I gained a deep understanding of chip-level behavior and design constraints. I now apply that knowledge and experience to the development of analog blocks, which require more advanced technical expertise. Each project brings its own set of challenges, translating schematics into manufacturable layouts, managing routing and routing density, ensuring proper matching, and working within strict design constraints. I feel that identifying the most appropriate solution to each of these challenges is one of the most rewarding aspects of this job.

Q.2 What led you to change jobs?

Developing my career as an analog layout design engineer in Japan

After graduating from university, I worked in the Philippines building EDA environments. Wanting to gain broader experience across different areas of design, I then shifted my career toward becoming an analog layout design engineer. Later, I decided I wanted to take on physical design work and learn advanced technologies in Japan, which led me to join Seedea. My current work allows me to make full use of my past experience while also challenging myself with new technologies.

Q.3 What are your impressions of Seedea, and what are your future goals?

Strengthening engineer development through training

My impression of Seedea is that it offers opportunities to grow in many different directions. When taking on new assignments, structured training and support are provided. Being able to learn from experienced Japanese engineers and having a strong support system has been a major source of motivation for me. My goal is to work on sensor and security-related development and acquire advanced, cutting-edge skills I have received generous guidance from senior engineers, learning not only technical skills but also how to work effectively as part of a team. Going forward, I hope to contribute to the development of other engineers by participating in training activities and eventually leading projects.
